Enukunnu, the Spider Innu
Soon, Enukunnu will spin above Montreal, serving as the emblem and allegory of the 36th International First Peoples Festival. His arrival will take place on this blessed land, which in 1701 was the site of the great gathering of the peoples of the Americas and the signing of the Great Peace Treaty of Montreal.
Born of the Spider, the superhero Enukunnu embodies the power of dreams and creativity in the destiny of peoples. His inventive spirit thwarts human folly and, through twists and turns, weaves beauty with the agility of an acrobat. Through his presence, the nightmare of deadly war is thwarted, while the harmony of his joyful and sophisticated webs invites us to imagine a world of joy, peace, and reconciliation.
From August 4th to 14th, 2026, the bold dream of peace will take shape in response to the dark madness of the warlords.
Enukunnu is coming to town! Let the celebrations of Indigenous arts, cultures, and imaginations begin.
