Yanomami chief and shaman Davi Kopenawa struggles to restore balance to the world, through ancient rituals and the rejection of a materialistic outsider culture. Illegal logging, gold mining and epidemics threaten the Yanomami’s existence. Drawing on an acute understanding of geopolitical forces, Kopenawa holds up a mirror to the capitalist societies of the “merchant people” and to the way of life of the so-called “developed” countries, which is jeopardizing the survival of humanity.
