Manitou Singers

QUEBECOR STAGE

Manitou Singers is a powwow singing group based in the Greater Montreal area. Rooted in the traditions of First Nations, its members are united by the spirit of song and the power of the drum, promoting peace, friendship, and brotherhood among all peoples around the world.

Former members of the late Buffalo Hat Singers passed the torch and formed Manitou Singers in May 2024, committing to carry on the musical legacy of their previous group and to share, through traditional singing and drumming, a vital part of North American Indigenous culture with the broader public.

Manitou Singers primarily performs in Montreal but also travels across Quebec, appearing in schools, CEGEPs, and at events such as conferences, symposia, ceremonies, and festivals. The group, which also occasionally accompanies powwow dancers, uses its art as a way to contribute to the ongoing journey of reconciliation.
