Synopsis
Thousands of old photographs of Aboriginal people are waiting in the drawers of archives centers across the country. Men, women and children, of whom we know neither the name, nor the origin, nor the life. This documentary proposes to go further than the image, to meet the descendants of these individuals to finally name them; with photography as a link between people, history and culture. It is the multidisciplinary artist Samian who is going to meet incredible men and women, respond with modern photographs and take an interest in our society. This project aims to be a portrait of our society and to document in its own way an important moment in our Canadian history: reconciliation.
With producers Marie Carole Noël and Elisapie Isaac, directors Jean-François Fontaine and Annie-Claude Roberge and Judith Naluyik in attendance.
Screening with Ikaartuit by Annie-Claude Roberge, Canada, documentary, 22 min, English and Inuktitut with French subtitles, 22 min
