First Peoples’ Festival releases its visual for 2025 for its 35th anniversary, the event’s poster is prophetic
Montreal, June 12th, 2025. With a superb illustration by Chippewar, an artist from the Deshkaan Ziibing Anishinaabeg nation, FIPA announces its wartime colours. The ancestral values of the indigenous peoples of the Americas will soon triumph over the evil forces of hatred and destruction.
A tonic program will run from August 5 to 14. It will be a joyous gathering of the forces of life that are
reinvigorating themselves in the wake of the pitiful collapse of the ubiquitous MAGA movement.
Notably, the grand concert-ritual, ‘The Song to the Whales, featuring Inuit, Aboriginal, and Māori artists, has been announced for two performances on August 5th and 6th at Place des Festivals. The full program will be announced shortly.
Jay Soule aka CHIPPEWAR is an Indigenous Artist from the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation
(Deshkaan Ziibing Anishinaabeg) located twenty minutes southwest of London, Ontario, on the
north bank of the Thames River. Jay creates art under the name Chippewar, which represents the hostile relationship that Canada’s native peoples have with the government of the land they have inhabited since their arrival. Chippewar is also a reminder of the importance of the traditional warrior role that exists in Indigenous cultures across North America that survives into the present day. ” End the divide and we prosper ” Jay Soule
FIPA runs from August 5th to 14th in Montreal and Kahnawake.
