In keeping with its mission to amplify Indigenous voices through audiovisual creation, Wapikoni presents Miziyeni, a selection of nine Anicinapek short films curated for the general public. These vibrant works, created by emerging filmmakers under the guidance of mentor-commissioner Kevin Papatie, pay tribute to the richness of the Anishnabe language — a powerful tool of identity, transmission, and resilience.

Presented as part of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages, this program reflects Wapikoni’s commitment to the personal, creative, and professional development of First Peoples and celebrates the power of cinema as a space for cultural affirmation.
