NATIONAL INDEGENOUS PEOPLES DAY CELEBRATION
Quai de l’Horloge
1, Clock Tower Quay Street, Montreal, Quebec, H2L 5C1.
Land InSIGHTS invites you to the civic ceremony for National Indigenous Peoples’ Day will take place at the Montreal Old Port on June 21st, starting at 11:30 a.m. According to immemorial tradition, at noon, the Elder will light the day’s fire as an earthly echo of the sun shining at its zenith on the longest day.
The public is invited to take part in the ancient ritual: tobacco ceremony, drumming, dances and
appropriate words.
It’s a moment of celebration for all that has been given to us by the generosity of Mother Earth. And
a reminder of how much we owe her; a heritage to be preserved for generations to come.
In the Old Port, outdoors, in front of 2 rue de la Commune Ouest, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
This activity was supported by Heritage Canada’s “Celebrate Canada” program.
