Samuel « Samian » Tremblay

A Métis rapper from Pikogan, a small Native village in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, Samian obtained recognition through the Wapikoni Mobile project, through which he was able to produce several tracks and record several video clips. Since 2004, he has taken part in many culturally diverse events throughout Quebec and France. He has also formed a strong friendship with Loco Locass and has performed with them onstage to release their first album together, ‘Amour Oral’, and then went onto be a part of their Quebec wide tour that followed shortly thereafter.

In 2006, Samian received an award for best music video at the International Festival of Indigenous Peoples in Pau, France.

His first album, ‘Face yourself’, was done in collaboration with Loco Locass and was performed alongside Flotent Vollant, Anodajay, Shauit Aster. I was first released in 2007.

In 2011, the young rapper made his first appearance in Montreal during the ‘Face the Music’ show, which debuted in 2010. The album,

Unanimously acclaimed by critics and the public, won the Félix

Best hip-hop award for album of the year in Autre Gala and earned Samian a nomination in the prestigious category, Composer of the Year at the ADISQ awards. The rapper has seen these same nominations three times at the Gala of the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, in Winnipeg, and has been awarded their first Best album at the Teweikan Gala.

In the month of April of 2012, Samian published a novel extract regarding Le Plan Nord, which was an immediate success, denouncing the intention of Quebec government to exploit Northern Quebec.
