The 5th conference Revisioning the Americas through indigenous cinema is taking place at Kahnawake and in Montreal. More than thirty researchers, students, directors, producers, other professionals of Indigenous cinema as well as cultural players from Aboriginal communities are expected. These include the renowned anthropologist Audra Simpson (Columbia University), who will deliver a talk and launch her new book: Mohawk Interruptus: Political Life Across the Borders of Settler States.

Quand le cinéma crée des ponts

The symposium Quand le cinéma crée des ponts brings together community intervenants and leaders of creative and communications agencies that working to appropriate audiovisual media by and for Indigenous peoples. It aims to lay a basis for an International Network for Aboriginal Audiovisual creations, allowing for long-term exchanges, developing co-productions and joint creations between partners from different horizons as well as a broader circulation of works. This is a milestone element in the ten years of Wapikoni Mobile, whose reputation and activities now extend throughout the Americas.
