Just as in the 18th
Century, Amerindian craftspeople and traders joined in public
events on the edge of the old Montreal colony.
Porcupine quill embroidery, woven
sweetgrass, wood and stone sculpture are some of the traditional
art forms showcased in the open air so we can see how they
are done. And of course, there was Iroquois traditional
song and dance.

As Land Insights organises
and lends its support to the Amerindian presence at this
seasonal fair, this continues the partnership begun in 2002,
during the commemoration of the 1701 Great Peace of Montreal.
During that event, Pointe-à-Callière,
in charge of organising a public marketplace, worked alongside
with Land Insights to organise the celebrations observing
the Tercentenary of this peace treaty.
