A unique Innu artist that cannot be imitated by anyone, coming from Maliotenam in Northern-Quebec, the singer-songwriter sings in French and English and is also able to sing in his Native language (Innu). Mature, honest and engaged in his music, consisting mainly of reggae/pop with the flavor of dancehall music, he sings of love, hope, Mother Earth, respect, and peace, an achievement few are able to achieve.

In 2004, after an impressive personal journey, he launched his first independent EP ‘Shapatesh Nuna’, solely in Innu. The mini-album was found by over 2500 buyers. After that, he was invited to perform in no less than 300 concerts throughout Canada and even going as far as Europe. Shauit has also sang for Her Majesty the Queen and Prime Minister Stephen Harper, during the Canada Day celebrations on July 1st, 2010, the show attracted over 70000 people onto Parliament Hill and was seen and heard by over 1772000 people over television, radio and the internet.

In 2011, he played a part in a scene of the film ‘’Mesnak’’ with director Yves Sioui-Durand, who won three prizes in San Francisco the previous November at the 37th American Indian Motion Picture Awards which included the best feature film in fiction. The film also won the Best Film and Best Director at the Santa Fe Indian Market. He also made the soundtrack for this scene.

Shauit’s energy and the enthusiasm leaves no one indifferent to its benefits, especially in the case of the former governor general of Canada, Michaëlle Jean who particularly liked his interpretation of a song in Creole of her native country, during the 400th anniversary of Quebec city.
