Synopsis

Juan watches his father. Why does he sleep all day? How come he is only able to fish at night? The days in the floating house on the river are long and quiet, the nights lonely. In an attempt to understand what has befallen his dad, Juan sets out into the darkness. In the Amazon region, it’s said that humanity and nature are deeply intertwined. Juan finds the truth somewhere between dream and reality.
Best International Short Film Award El silencio del río by Francesca Canepa Juan, a child of the Kukuma Nation, follows the path of his dream in search of his destiny. The revelatory function of dream in native tradition is at the heart of an initiation story in which the art of magical realism, so typical of Latin American literature, leads the viewer to the discovery of buried truths, following in Juan's footsteps as he goes deep into the heart of the forest. El silencio del río by Francesca Canepa wins the Best International Short Film Award.
