Masterclass APTN - How to develop and produce your first television show

Julie O'Bowsawin 

Julie O’Bomsawin is a member of the Abenaki Nation, president and producer at Kassiwi Média, an indigenous production company she also co-founded. Kassiwi Média specialises in the creation, development, and production of film, television, and digital media that promote Indigenous creative expression, diversity, and cultural pride. After completing a BA in Communication (with a major in Television) at UQAM, Julie worked for more than nineteen years of sets, including eleven years in various First Nations communities. She now develops and produces media concepts that support the expression of contemporary Indigenous voices. Julie’s productions include Rite de passage 1 and 2, unique documentaries made for Radio-Canada. She completed the series and produced the television and new media on “ Policier autochtone”, Kassiwi Média’s first documentary series aired on APTN (13 x 30 minutes) and to be aired on RDI (6 x 60 minutes) in 2020. She is currently working on the development of an eventually second season of this documentary series “Policier autochtone 2” and many other projects.
