Joey and the Leitis

In the Kingdom of Tonga, the Leitis (transgender) stand for their right to difference with the support of the Royal Family, despite the virulent opposition of evangelical churches newly established in the archipelago, with their sectarian rigour. This is the first film of a young Hawaiian filmmaker. It is a tenderly rebellious and modestly sensual ode to freedom, a threatened Polynesian heritage.
