Released after a 19-year prison term, Mekko soon joins the ranks of the homeless Native Americans in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He finds brotherhood and mutual aid there, but also an “evil witch”, like the ones his grandmother warned him about. Harjo crafts this thriller with the authenticity of his home town settings and its homeless community, while Ron Rondeaux reveals himself as a phenomenal actor, bearing the drama of a man seeking redemption and whose fate might conjure up that of a people.
