Here I Am

With the story of the social rehabilitation of a young Aborigine woman just released from prison, director Beck Cole shows us the rugged path these women must take to succeed in preserving their dignity in an often-hostile urban environment. A sensitive, accurate story, a flawless direction of the cast and a camera able to grasp emotions barely hinted at in sideways glances, give this sincere work an accomplished quality that warrants Teueikan Grand Prize at First Peoples’ Festival 2012.
