Elías, an Asháninkade Aboriginal chief in the Peruvian Amazon’s central forest decides to return to his birthplace seeking a woman healer who can teach his daughter traditional knowledge of medicinal plants and the rites associated with these. The struggle between Shining Path and the Peruvian army has scattered the Ashinikas as they fled combat zones. In this context, finding the right person to teach Shamporo is a formidable task.
