Starting in 2007, UN General Assembly has approved this declaration, thanks to decisive support from Latin American and Caribbean countries. Now that Canada and the USA have finally ratified it, we can celebrate with our friends in the forefront.

We are marching to the sound of the drum, in the tradition of brotherhood, sisterhood and friendship among the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, the people of Montreal and the First Nations.

2001 – 2011: 19 ten years of social and popular victories that have reinvigorated democracy in the lands of Nuestra América as they celebrate the bicentennials of their independence. Over these ten years the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples has been approved. And now, UNANIMOUSLY and UNIVERSALL

The parade gives voice to the ideals of peace First Peoples’ Festival has always stood for, in tune with the cultural sensibility of Montrealers of all origins and the hopes of Nuestra América’s peoples.
