John Metza

John Metza is an Abenaki singer-songwriter from Wolinak who was recently signed to the Nikamo Musik label. After spending several years working in the construction industry, he made a major life change to follow his true calling: reconnecting with his roots and sharing his story through music.

With a raw, soulful, and heartfelt voice, John creates a musical world that blends folk, country, and blues, where introspection, pain, and hope come together. Inspired by legends such as Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, while also drawing from contemporary artists like Zach Bryan and Chris Stapleton, he has developed an authentic neo-country sound.

His debut single, “SORRY,” marks a powerful and moving introduction to the Indigenous music scene. More than just a song, SORRY is an intimate reflection on forgiveness, carried by organic arrangements and deep emotional resonance.

Through his music, John hopes to inspire those who are seeking to reinvent themselves and to remind them that it is never too late to reconnect with who they truly are. He is currently preparing a second single for release this fall, continuing an artistic journey guided by truth, pride, and the passing on of culture and stories.
