ATANUKAN is a theatrical storytelling production that immerses audiences in the rich imagination and oral traditions of the Innu Nation. Created by Omer St-Onge, an Innu author, storyteller, and actor from the community of Maliotenam, the performance features Saulnia Jean-Pierre, a traditional craftsperson and performer dedicated to preserving and sharing Indigenous knowledge. Together, they bring to life ancestral stories passed down through generations in Innu-aimun, preserving a precious oral heritage.

Blending storytelling, song, music, and living traditions in an intimate stage setting, ATANUKAN breathes new life into the myths and legends that shape Innu identity. Through moments of humour, emotion, and wisdom, these stories reveal timeless values of sharing, mutual support, respect for all living beings, and the deep connection between people, community, and the land.

More than a performance, ATANUKAN is an act of cultural transmission. By celebrating the voices of Elders and the richness of Innu oral tradition, the production invites audiences to discover a vibrant living culture, to listen with new ears, and to build meaningful connections across communities.
