SYNOPSIS
Just like a river, this film is deep and sinuous, dark and luminous. Inspired by the long friendship between Vincent Carelli and “capitão” Krohokrenhum, a great Gavião leader, the story turns into a saga spanning over two centuries of Indigenous resistance and documents its advances and setbacks, its hardships and successes, its power and momentum, its uncertainty about the future. This opus masterfully packs decades of relentless work to document and empower the Indigenous peoples of Brazil. Brazil’s Indigenous cinema paved the way for all subsequent initiatives in the Southern hemisphere. In addition to the Adeus capitao screening Vincent Carelli and Video as Aldeias, which he founded, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding collaboration and solidarity with the Indigenous nations of Brazil.
